When we reached Bali, we were excited. Collected our rented car and we were off to Ubud. The GPS map I downloaded for Bali could not be used so we ended up depending entirely on the maps we printed out before we left.
You can't really get lost driving from Kuta to Ubud because there's only one main road all the way. We were feeling so excited and eager until we reached..... the traumatic slope.
It was a terribly sharp U-turn onto the slope and it's was one of the steepest slopes we drove on. Soma couldn't get the under-powered Avanza up the slope and it kept dying again and again and again and we were panicking and panicking and panicking. Jasmine calmed Soma down and she reversed down, stepped of the accelerator with all her might and drive up the slope.
After that incident, Soma was my hero. I would have just sat there crying. Or I would have gotten out of the car and grab somebody from the roadside to drive the car.
Anyway, that slope was the only disadvantage of staying in Nefetari Villa because you'll always have to pass it whenever you leave the villa. When we finally saw the Nefatari sign, we almost cried with joy.
And the gates opened, we entered paradise. The reception was absolutely beautiful.
We finally checked-in and were brought into our villa, and when the main villa door opened...
This was the first sight we saw
Needless to say, the 4 of us were very very very happy girls. We excitedly went around exploring each room and each bathroom.
Service in this villa is superb. They only have 9 private villas and therefore you are treated like royalty. They have a free shuttle service and you can get them to fetch you from one area to another. Just tell them the time and place and they will pick you up and bring you to your next destination. It was like having your own private driver and it's all FOC.
This is Mr Boleh Man, Ketut. Anything you ask him to do, he'll reply, "Boleh". He's so cute, I wanted to squeeze him like a soft toy.
At night when you come back, you'll find that they already placed mosquito coils in each bathroom to get rid of the mosquitoes.
The next morning, somebody will come and clean the pool.
Imagine getting up the the morning, coming out from your room and having this beautiful sight greet you good morning.
I woke up early, went out in my pajamas and just lied down beside the pool and stared at the blue blue sky.
And the most awesome thing is having your breakfast served to you in your private villa. They'll give you a menu and you can order anything.
Ah... having breakfast served in our private villa while we are still in our bikinis. I could really get used to this life. :)
Drinks and snacks are free and unlimited the throughout the whole day.
And I loved loved loved this drink, Teh Botol. Wondefully refreshing on a hot day.
Overall, this villa was one of the best experiences I had in Bali.

Bali is too pweeetttty~ =) I so want to go there.. now i know why it's such a popular tourist place. I love the photos of the roaring seas by the cliff.. hey, how come u didn't snap more sunset shots? =)
SY: Yes the prices are in USD. Breakfast is included and unlimited.
Genny: We didn't snap more sunset photos because the 1st day we were in town shopping, 2nd day we were too busy chasing the sun for the sunset but we were too late, 3rd day we were watching the Kecak dance when the sun set. So didn't really have a chance to snap.
Oh my.... The villa is so superb!! You really live like a rich princess (live like a tai tai) in Bali
Hi, I just happened to search for this villa's name and your blog appears as one of the webby! So I am a total stranger also from Singapore and Im gg to Bali too!
Can I check which website you book this villa from? Do you mind sharing?
Thanks so much! :)
hi.. im planning to go this coming sept or oct to nefatari. Just wanted to ask you about your experience there, is it okay to stay there if i'm going with my 2 year old son and wife? Moskitoes a problem? insects at night? bed bugs and if the toilet is child safe? Hope you can help...
thanks
Hi Billy,
I enjoyed my stay at nefatari very much. The staff there are so friendly and are very willing to drive you out to Ubud which is only 5 minutes away. I didn't have problems with mosquitoes or insects. The toilet is huge so you may want to watch over your kid when he is in there.
When you book a villa, remember to request for their new villas. I read online that their old villas are not that comfortable. So I requested for a newer one and I was very happy with it.
Hope this helps! :)
thanks mindy. My only concern is if there's mozzies.. my son is kinda allergic to it. Will almost always have a huge rash if he gets moskito bites.
Hope you and your hubby will be able to go there again one day soon. Bali is really a very nice place to be. Everything there is so relaxed and simple. Life should be like that. Even though im on my 3rd trip now, I don't think i will ever tire of that place.
Hi Mindy,
Came across your blog post on Nefatari when I was googling for photos and reviews of this villa. Your photos of the villa and your stay there are very nice.
I was thinking of staying at Nefatari for honeymoon. Since you mentioned that some villas may be older and may not be that nice, can you please let me know what is the name of the villa you stayed in, so that we can request for this? From the pics, the villa you gals got was very nice and new with a big swimming pool. Some villas have a smaller pool, from what I can see from other reviewers. Did you gals get the 1 or 2 bedroom villa?
Many thanks and hope to hear from you soon! :)
