P.P.S - I cannot understand what's with all the hoo-haa over Robert Pattinson. Maybe I should try watching Twilight and see whether the inner idol worshiping love-struck teenager is still within me.
P.P.P.S - I need to find a way to get of my shoe shopping phase. 6 new pairs and I still find myself still obsessively thinking about the black pair of heels I saw in Vincci.

i'm so glad you liked the sandwich. i was concerned that the bread may get soggy with the salmon sitting on it the whole night.
you only get a free sandwich if i take your book traveling and get the edges blunted up n cover become more dull looking. honestly, i can't remember how your book looked when i got it, but i think it looked nicer.
i guess maybe i'm naturally protective of books, so felt bad that i didnt return it in mint condition. i think it didnt travel well in my bag.
i wasn't sure how to make amends for the book and also to thank you for burning the dvds for me few months back. then saw the freshly baked focaccias at rainforest bakery, so thought i'd make you my fav sandwich! ;)
It was the first time I had smoked salmon sandwich and it was absolutely yummy. I wanna make one myself. :)

since u wanna make yourself one, i'll share with you my experience..
i went to tesco, queensbay and gurney to look for smoked salmon. tesco didnt have any n QB had black pepper smoked salmon, which i didn't want coz i felt the black pepper will overwhelm the subtle taste of salmon n wouldn't do justice to the salmon or the herb foccacia. ended up finding plain norwegian smoked salmon in the frozen seafood section opposite the butter (dairy) section in gurney giant. RM16 for 5 pieces, if not mistaken. i used two slices in your sandwich, but when making for myself, i only use one and its fine.
btw, smoked salmon can be safely kept in the fridge for few weeks, no need for storing it in the freezer unless u plan to make it last for months.
cheeses in tesco are about RM 1-2 cheaper than gurney giant. usually in Australia i'll make the sandwich using boccocini, but only gurney sold them and it was at RM30 for a tiny pack!!!! so i used the cheapest camembert i could find instead. the same danish camembert is cheapest in tesco, QB and gurney. tesco being cheapest of the lot. still RM12+, but i think having cheese in it really makes a difference n you can slice it thinner to make it last. alternatively, maybe try cheese spread which is cheaper but not sure how taste will go.
i miss being in australia where things like smoked salmon, cheese, dips and various other finger foods are considered cheap items you put out at parties before the real food comes. sigh... i think cheeses are my fav food item. i belong in europe!
i dont buy shoes because i spend too much on food!! hehe.
what about this. for each new shoe you buy, make yourself donate at least RM5 to a licensed charity of your choice. if you're disciplined n strict in penalising yourself each time you buy new shoes, then you'll eventually feel the pinch and stop. :P be careful with your donations, tho.. not all charities spend wisely. btw, charities are tax-deductable, so keep the receipt. ;)
Thanks again for the sandwich. I'll try making in one day. Though after you told me how much the whole thing will cost, I don't think it's something I'll be eating every week. :P
And I didn't buy the pair of black heels in the end. I was prepared to spend RM100 on it until I accidentally scratched the heel when I tried it and found that the color came out so easily.
