I seriously need to work out something soon. Work has been crazy busy. I've stopped my aerobics after skipping it so often. And after the hubby moved to his new job, he comes home later than me. Which means after I reach home after 8pm, I've got to clean up after two mad doggies. And for a few days, I was crazy enough to even try to cook after coming back so late.

Bought 2 large pizzas. Ate pizza yesterday, today lunch and dinner and probably for lunch tomorrow again. I'm going to be as fat as Sparkle soon. And the boss suggested maybe having pizza for dinner tomorrow, my tummy did a not so nice turn.

Don't even dare to ask me the infamous baby question. My answer will be no time la!

How leh? Gotta think of something soon. Some kind of system. I'm quite sure humans were not made to live on pizzas forever.

i've adopted a diet of mostly vegies (broccoli, carrots, eggplant, tomatoes, capsicum, zucchini, cabbage etc supplemented if necessary with egg, tofu, beans or nuts for added texture). you can cook them just as you would a meat dish, but replace meat with some sort of vege. they cook faster (curries with carrots/eggplant instead of meat cook at a fraction of the time!), are easier to prepare and i feel healthier.

i also have a large fruit bowl in my kitchen, so if still hungry, i'll have a pear/apple/melon. if i'm terribly busy/tired, i might not cook at all and just eat fruits with a large glass of soy milk. muesli, yoghurt and fruit are also great. after all, you shouldn't need to eat much for dinner.

i'm sure you'll find your own system soon. :)

oh yes, and noodles cook faster than rice. and some sauces can be cooked and used in a variety of ways.

and pasta is amongst the fastest and easiest really nice food to cook! just always have some spaghetti, canned tomatoes and some thyme in the house, then you can throw in just whatever else available in the fridge. they are my emergency food eventhough they can be so nice!

Hmm...the last I know..you live right opposite loads of food options leh...maybe you should not stress about the cooking part until you can adjust your time a little.. But of cos, if you can keep your cooking menu simple..then it is definitely a much better option to cook than to eat out :) Hang in there!

I'm absolutely bored of every single restaurant opposite where I live. Unless of course my KFC cravings come back.

Yup, trying to keep my recipes simple. Sometimes I'll prepare it during the weekend, then chuck it into the oven when I came back. However, brown rice takes so long to cook, so will have to switch to an alternative soon.

Also, for a few weeks, I was just eating salad cos it's straight out of the fridge. Got bored of that too.

Living on spaghetti as well. I don't buy fruits because they always end up rotting in my fridge.

Problem is my doggies make huge messes in the kitchen when i come back and by the time i clean it all up, i don't want to be in the kitchen anymore.

Anyway, my new laptop is here. that's supposedly going to allow me to come back from work earlier, cook and clean then log back to work from home. But so far... that only happen once. And I found I ran out of spaghetti sauce and didn't cook in the end. :P

But hey, thanks for sharing some survival tips. :)

Hey, what about making pot of stew or braise meat and leave it in the freezer?

I usually make a big pot of chicken stock then freeze it. Use it to make simple veg soup or noodle dishes.

Have you tried soaking the brown rice with water before you cook? It doesn't take too long if you do that.

Hey Eunice, thanks for the tip. I'll try leaving the brown rice to soak before I go off to work.

Usually I'll cook a big pot of soup on Sunday and heat it up during weekdays. But the hubby needs his meat and rice. Noodle are not enough for him. And there must always be a meat dish. Sometimes I'll cook a big pot of curry chicken and freeze it.

I guess have to be more disciplined on Sundays to do more cooking for the week ahead. :)

do microwave cooking... i've been so lazy, i've been microwaving everytg edible that i see =) US is just such a lazy nation, and I'm starting... to be... lethargic like them... microwave cooking is so fast.. and there's less to wash~~ (my fav part)

Only problem is it might take a few years off my life =p
